Deephaven City Parks
General Information
Overnight camping is allowed in Burton Park with prior registration with the city clerk. All parks are closed between midnight and 6 a.m. Skating rinks are closed between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m., unless a permit is obtained from the director of Public Works. Dogs are allowed at Thorpe Park only. They must remain on the walking path and be on a leash.
Thorpe Park
Deephaven’s primary community park. Features include off-street parking, picnic shelter, playground, pond, flower gardens, (2) ball fields, (4) tennis courts, warming house, lighted hockey rink, open skating rinks, trails, basketball court, horseshoe pit, in-line skating.
Cottagewood Children’s Park
Includes swings, picnic area, small open fields.
Burton Park
10 acres; natural area of mixed woodland areas and open grass spaces; adjacent to grade school.
Pump Park
Neighborhood park with small trail; limited on-street parking.
Shuck Park
Features a play area, small basketball court, (2) tennis courts, picnic area, small open field area, limited on-street parking.
Village Hall Park
Adjacent to the Deephaven city hall; accessible via the Hennepin Park Trail. Off-street parking, (3) tennis courts, gazebo, picnic areas, small ball field, playground, lighted hockey rink, warming house, paddle tennis court, open field areas.
Hill Property
Northwest corner of Minnetonka Boulevard and Northome Road; scattered tree cover and grass areas; limited on-street parking.
Hineline Property
Designated wetland area in the east central portion of the city.

Merry Lane Access Christmas Lake
Six parks, totaling over 90 acres, offer picnic areas, playground equipment, tennis courts, ball fields, a basketball court, walking trails and ice skating (three parks provide attendants and warming houses). Call to reserve athletic fields for sporting events. A skate park is located at the South Shore Community Park. The Merry Lane Access provides boat launching to Christmas Lake.
Tonka Bay City Parks
Crescent Beach Birch Bluff Rd.
With dock for swimming lessons (Minnetonka Community Services, 952-906-2550), it is jointly owned and operated with Shorewood.
Manitou Park County Rd. 19
Largest park in Tonka Bay. Facilities include hockey rink, warming house, basketball court, soccer and baseball fields, picnic shelter, picnic tables, grills, benches and large playground structure.
Old Orchard Park County Rd. 19
Grills, picnic tables and swings are available. Some dock spaces, boat slides, canoe racks for rent. Call the City Hall for information.
Pleasant Park Pleasant Ave.
Woods, playground, picnic tables and permanent volleyball posts.

Swimming
Beaches
Children must be at least 10 years old to swim at any public beach (with lifeguard on duty) without direct, competent supervision. Please be considerate of other beach users and use the trash receptacles. Remember, if you could bring it to the beach, you could bring it home from the beach.
Deephaven Main Beach
The largest of all the Deephaven beaches, includes supervised swimming beach, tennis court with “sport court” surface for multi-use functions, canoe racks, trail access, picnic area, swings. Limited off-street parking with permit.
Linewood Beach
Small, unsupervised swimming beach. Limited on-street parking with permit.
Nocomo Beach
Nocomo Beach is used by the Walden neighborhood as a small, unsupervised beach. Limited off-street parking is available with a permit.
Robinson’s Bay Beach
Small, supervised swimming beach with lifeguard. Limited off-street parking with permit.
Rocky Beach
Small lake access, unsupervised swimming beach. Limited off-street parking with permit.
Sandy Beach
Small, supervised swimming beach with lifeguard. Limited off-street parking with permit.

Shorewood’s public swimming area is at the end of Birch Bluff Road on the northern edge of the city. It is operated in cooperation with the City of Tonka Bay. Swimming lessons are available with registration through the Minnetonka Community Education program. There is a lifeguard on duty seven days a week, during the seasons for open swim time as well.
Fire Lanes
Tonka Bay has 21 fire lanes providing lake access: Class 1 lanes are pedestrian access; Class 2 are for Class 1 and snowmobile access; and Class 3 are for fishing, boat launching and winter vehicle access.

Baylor Regional Park

A 200-acre park, Baylor is also home to the Onan Observatory opearted by the Minnesota Astronomical Society. The Observatory has several telescopes for public viewing at scheduled events. Additional facilities at Baylor include campgrounds, a beach, fishing pier, playgrounds, restrooms, picnic shelters and trails.
Lake Minnewashta Regional Park

Lake Minnewashta is a 350-acre park with a boat launch, picnic shelters, swimming beach with lifeguards, creative children's play structure, hiking trails, cross country skiing, volleyball courts, restrooms and fishing pier.
Lake Waconia Regional Park

This recently expanded park and beach area has a children's play area, picnic grounds, picnic shelter and restrooms. A large sliding hill, featuring an 80-foot plunge, offers sledding enthusiasts a scenic view of Lake Waconia and Coney Island.
Camp Tanadoona

Located on the eastern shore of Lake Minnewashta, Camp Tanadoona is owned and operated by the Minneapolis Council of Camp Fire, a youth agency for boys and girls.
Lake Minnetonka Regional Park

A 292-acre park, on the southwest shore of Lake Minnetonka, includes picnic areas, visitor center, fishing pier, boat launch and upland swimming pond with wheelchair accessible swimming ramp.

Park’s formal gardens are open May 1 through mid-October for tours. Events also may be scheduled there.
MN Landscape Arboretum

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers more than 1,000 acres of landscaped gardens, natural woodlands, wetlands and prairie, plant collections, and displays. Walk, hike, cross-country ski more than eight miles of trails. Open 363 days a year.
Wildlife Refuge

Made up of eight separate units, the 14,000-acre Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge runs from Bloomington to Jordan, along both sides of the Minnesota River. Nearby Chaska, Rapids Lake and Louisville Swamp Units combine to provide 4,700 acres of outdoor opportunities such as hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, wildlife observation and photography as posted on Refuge interpretive signs.
